Is Surgery Required When The Gleason Score Is 7?
My Gleason score came back at 7. I understand that is considered intermediate risk. I am a healthy 58 year and not overweight. I need to find out from the biopsy what each score was, so if the first number say a 3+ 4 would be less risk than 4+3, correct. The first words out of the doctors mouth was surgery. Divinci $50,ooo surgery. I have no insurance at this time. Please advise on what to ask about.

Prostate cancers with Gleason Score between 7 and 10 are more aggressive cancers and may be life threatening. Gleason score of 7 tumors still have a good prognosis, although not as good as a Gleason score 6 tumor.
They are more likely to have favorable outcomes after surgery. Gleason with 4 + 3 are more aggressive form of cancer and more likely to grow and spread than a 3 + 4 = 7 tumor.
