Is Surgery The Only Option To Remove A Cyst In The Ear?
My daughter is 4 years old and has had an abscess on her ear for about 6 weeks, she is currently on her 4th antibiotic. We have been taking her to a pediatric ENT who believes it could be a cyst, she has an ear pit that could potentially be clogged thus causing mucous to flood the cyst and not drain properly so it is swelling and leaking puss and blood. According to the ENT the next answer is surgery, but at 4 years old you can imagine I m trying to opt for the least invasive option. Do you think this is the only option for correcting this issue?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Cyst or pus at local accumulation need to drain otherwise it may spread to adjoining sides lead to complications. So drainage or excision along with surgery may gives rise to complete recovery in few days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
