Is Surgery The Only Remedy For Chronic Bursitis In Elbow?

I have a chronic problem with bursitis in my elbow for nearly two years. Very painful, turns black & blue if I bang it. have already tried anti-inflammatories, cortisone injection, it has been drained twice...all to no avail. Surgery to remove bursa sac is now recommended. what is your feeling about this approach and what does surgery entail.
