Is Surgery The Only Treatment Option For Severe Mitral Insufficiency With Rupture Of The Posterior Leaflet?

Good night. I am a runner and during this week, I was diagnosed with severe mitral insufficiency, with rupture of the posterior leaflet. I m 50 years old, I don t smoke, I don t drink alcohol and I have an excellent diet and physical condition. The doctor told me I d have to operate, and I m a little scared, I d like to know more about the best approach to my condition, types of surgeries and actual success rates and complications.
