Hi doctor, My mother distrust people around her. She is suspiciious of other peoples intentions. Because of her behaviour, i am losing relatives day by day. She left my father then my supportive uncle, now she broke with other family members. She lives with my brother and i feel that her next target is him. I feel she has paranoid personality disorder. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, she definitely needs to have a detailed review by a psychiatrist as the symptoms you shared doesn't justify any objective cause and needs psychiatric disorders to work up.

Though paranoid personality disorder can be possible with such mistrust, and if probed and related to hallucinations etc may have associated bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

Also, concomitant psychological services with behavior modification therapies and group therapies may be needed along with the pharmacological treatments.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
