Is Swelling And Black Discoloration Of Ankle A Sign Of Blood Clot?

Got hit by a line drive on Sunday on my shin. Which swelled immediately like the size of a softball. tonight I noticed my ankle on the same leg is swollen with black coloring. Should I seek medical attention as I am concerned that is a sign of a blood clot

Hi,

The trauma to shin getting a swelling followed by ankle swelling with black discoloration. This is due to dependent edema on ankle...following a hematoma. You can use ice bag to relieve swelling. You should consult a doctor, get an X-ray of shin done to exclude fracture in case it's painful. Treatment of shin lesion would take care of ankle swelling.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
