Is Swelling Around The Scrapes On The Leg Post An Injury A Concern?
I fell down a few steps last Saturday morning. It scraped the front of my leg causing it to bleed in 3 places. I also have swelling and bruising around the scrapes on my leg, in addition to my ankle and my foot. I think the swelling has gone down slightly since the accident about 60 hours ago. I can move my foot and ankle. The scraped areas are still somewhat painful. My leg aches a little especially when I m reclining. I can walk just fine. Do I need to be concerned about the swelling?
As per your case history of swelling around injury, my treatment advice is: 1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like iBuprofen for 5 to 7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
