Is Swelling In A Tongue And Chin A Result From Piercing?

i got my tongue pierced 5 days ago and everything was going fine and the swelling started going down until yesterday night i noticed my tongue has swelled up all over again and underneath my jaw and chin (right side mainly) it does feel swollen, im not sure if its my salivary glands or anything else and if really need to worry about it. I've been cleaning it properly and everything but im not sure whats going on?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain some swelling on tongue and swollen lymph nodes under the chin or under the jaw is normal..
But in case if there is swollen again and there is increase in swelling under the jaw there is a possibility that there is some sort of infection or you are getting allergic reaction to the jewelry or tongue rong/stud that you are wearing..
As if is just 5 days you should wait for a another 2 days and see how it progresses..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, do cold water rinses, suck ice and maintain a good Oral hygiene..
In case of the swelling starts resolving it is fone, otherwise you need to consult a General Physician and get evaluated..
In case if there is allergic reaction, removal of the jewelry and giving anti allergics will relieve..
Once swelling goes down you can wear gold tongue ring or stud as it is inert material and won't cause allergic reaction..
