Is Swelling In Legs With A Burning Sensation Due To Nephritis?

I have been diagnosed with Lupus and collagenous colitis. the past 7 or 7 months, my legs have been swelling, sometimes with a burning sensation. I was wondering if I have nephritis? My cousin died from nephritis about 50 years ago when she was only 17.
