Is Swelling Of An Old Scar Of Laparoscopic Appendectomy A Dangerous Sign?

My old scar of a laporoscopy appendectomy at the very bottom centre of my tummy has recently become swollen and red and feels like it has a lump underneath it which hurts when I touch it. The lump is soft and movable and the scar is red should I get to see a doctor or is it just irritation?

Hello,
Thank you for writing to HCM

How old is your scar ?
Seems like you have developed hypertrophic scar.
Hypertropic scars are swollen , red, may be painful and itchy.
This is due to excessive deposition of collagen.
Donnot worry. This is not a dangerous sign.
For confirmatory diagnosis and cosmetic issues consult a dermatologist in person.
