Is Switching From Asacol To Balsalazide Safe For Ulcerative Colitis?
I am 68 yrs old. Have had UC for 25 years. Is in remission now for several years. Have been taking Asacol 800mg 6 per day for probably 20 years. Am switching to Balsalazide 750mg 3 per day due to the high cost of Asacol. UC has stayed in lower colon and rectum always. Any problem with switching?

Balsalazide and Asacol comparison in many studies have shown little or no difference in ulcerative colitis treatment.
You may switch to Balsalazide and by yourself evaluate the effectiveness of the new drug.
Even the lower cost is very helpful to you because it is a chronic disease. So I suggest you continue Balsalazide.
