Is Swollen Submandibular Lymph Node Caused Due To Cat Scratch ?
my daughter has a swollen submandibular lymph node, swelling went down with antibiotics but it is still very pronounced, getting cbc and ultrasound done, but in mean time, my three left cervicle lymph nodes are very swollen, they became swollen about 5 days after her. coincidence? I feel fine, maybe a little tired but no fever or anything else suggestive of infection. And yes, I am aware of cat scratch and yes we do have a caat 10 months of age in home. DR is ruling that out for daughter.
Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM, Cat scratch as nothing to do with your symptoms. You are having sailoadenitis that is inflammation of the submandibular gland. Inflammation of this salivary gland will cause all these symptoms. As your doctor as advised for the complete blood count and USG it will confirm the presence of infection. Most common cause for inflammation of submandibular gland is obstruction to the duct by the stone, USG helps to find out the cause for this and then we can decide the further course of action. I would suggest you to consult ENT surgeon and undergo physical examination and make the proper diagnosis and take appropriate treatment. Thank you.
