Is 'syndrome' Or 'disorder' Used By Doctors To Describe A Set Of Symptoms Like Abdominal Cramps, Constipation And Diarrhea With An Unknown Cause?

I am not in need of a gynecologist, however I have a simple question: generally speaking, is Syndrome/Disorder a code word among physicians/healthcare providers to refer to a set of broad unanswered and unknown causality to describe patient who are experiencing a set of symptoms (i.e., abdominal cramps, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc.) without being able to arrive to consensus, and can only treat individual/multiple symptoms?
