Is Taking Atorvastatin Mandatory For A Heart Patient?

My Calcium CT score is 209. Otherwise, I am in very good health. LDL 98, HDL 77, Total cholestrol: 184. Never smoked, never drank, exercise daily for one to two hours, including one-hour walk. I don t want to take Atorvastatin that my cardiologist is recommending. I have no diabetes, no high blood pressure. My stress echo tests have been perfectly normal. Nothing, I believe, can remove the plaque that is already in my coronary artery walls; so what is the point of taking statins if I can maintain present low level of LDL and high level of HDL that I have always enjoyed. Hello
I agree with your assessment--I myself, were I your doctor, would see no reason to place you on a statin.

The cardiologist is probably trying to be preventive here--using a statin to preempt any further coronary artery disease
