And to be more specific viral infection. This viral infection will cause secondary bacterial infection. So antibiotics are usually given in COPD worsening. So no harm in taking clindamycin. It is not penicillin group of antibiotic. So it will give you allergic reaction. I advice you to get done adult pulmonary vaccination with pneumpcoccal and influenza to prevent future lung infections and thus reduce COPD worsening s. You should also enroll in pulmonary rehabilitation program where chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise are done. These will improve your lung functions and helps in COPD worsening.
