Is Taking Histatussin While On Medicines For Heart Problems Safe?

my father suffered a stroke in 2003, he still ambles around, he was also diagnosed with COPD and has had 2 flareups in the past 3 years. He now has a cough, can I give him HISTATUSSIN cough medicine?. He takes medication for heart condition (brought on by the stroke)high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol.
