Is Taking Metronidazole Safe While TTC?

I am taking metronidazole 400mg for an infection in a tooth that has root canal. I have been told to up the dose to 800mg for the first day and then decrease it, to really try to kick the infection. I am allergic to everything else. My partner and I wish to try for a baby, I am on about day 9 after my period began. Is this course going to affect my chances of conceiving this month? And or next? Thanks for your time.

I understand your concern.

Metrogyl is safe to take and will not interfere with your chances of conception. Since you are on only on the 9th day of your cycle, it won't overlap with a possible conception either.
I advice you to take the medication with food as it may cause nausea and metallic taste in your mouth if taken on empty stomach.

please take your full course and make sure the infection has been treated.
