Is Taking Pregnyl Injection During Pregnancy, Safe?

Respected Sir, My wife has been operated on Nov 2010 because of ectopic pregnancy and before this she had 2 abortions, now after so many days she has become pregnent and her last Menstural Period was on 05-10-2012 and the doctor has made us to do 3 times pregnancy test and 3 times we got postive. With the above date now 7th week is running and the doctor has prescribed and injected two FERTIGYN HP 5000 IU injections, one on 17-11-2012 and another on 19-11-2012. But I collected information about this injection from the internet I got the information that Although Pregnyl (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)) can help you become pregnant, this medication is in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that using the medication once you are pregnant can cause birth defects in the baby. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment. Now i want to known that the injection given to my wife is safe baby or not.Please do needful Thanking you Sir/ Madam Your Sincerely

Hello sir and welcome.

If at all a pregnant woman has low hCG levels, she can suffer a miscarriage which could possibly be why your wife miscarried the last time. Taking these injections while pregnant with a low hCG level can certainly help to reach a normal range and ultimately supporg the continuation of pregnancy. Please continue them as per your doctors orders.
