Hi, i really need some medical advise! I am spotting 17 days now and im not pregnant according to the urine hcg. I did an ultrasound whuch shows 2 fibroid one on the left and the other on the right of the uterus, the doc also said im pcos what can i do to stop the spotting and why is my prolactin level at 48. Im soooo worried please help. One doc give me ovral l and the other giv me provera i dont kno wht to do.
welcome to hcm, I really appreciate your concern, Provera( medroxy progesterone acetate) has been prescribed by your doctor to be taken for regularizing your periods, since irregular period is one of the presentation of PCOD . Usually prolactin levels increases as increase estrogen due to pcos affects the pituitary release of prolactin. ovral l( levonorgesterol) has been prescribed as it would help in reducing the estrogen excess due ti pcod. You can follow the schedule as suggested by your doctor in this cycle or in the next one . These drugs will decrease the chances of spotting., but doesn't gaurentee it. You may have to try this several times with repeated follow-ups in case it doesn't happen this time, until it happens please feel free to ask any further queries. Thanks. regards.
