Is Taking Synthroid Or Levothyroxine Advisable To Treat Thyroid Disorder?

I have just been diagnosed with low thyroid. My doctor wants me to start taking synthroid /levothyroxine sodium. I have heard a lot of negative reviews on this medication. I was on Thyroid PX that helped but I cannot afford it. I also heard actalin was good. Please advise me.

Hello. Hypothyroidism is a condition where your body is deficient in the hormone - thyroxine. Levothyroxine or synthroid is just the hormone which you will be taking so that it makes up for the deficiency. It's nothing but taking the hormone externally. Hope this helps clear your query.
