Is Taking Xanax Safe Along With Hydrochlothiazide For High BP?

I went to the doctor last night with high blood pressure they gave me 25mg of hydrochlorothiazideto take daily until I get in my primary care. I still feel my blood pressure is very high and due to stress and anxiety can I take a Xanax with this medication?
