Is Taking Amoxicillin, Loratadine And Mucinex For Sinus Infection Appropriate?
I just picked up my son, 7 yrs., approx. 50lbs. He's seems to have a sinus infection and is running approx. 102 degree fever. his mom carried him to doc wed. 12/04 and started him with 10mg of amoxicillin twice a day along with 10mg of loratadine and multi-symptom mucinex (childrens) for temp. sounds like too much of a cocktail to me?
For an infection with fever, 10mg of amoxicillin twice daily is very less dose for a 50lbs child. I don't think that it'll will of any help to him. I usually prescribe 200mg of amoxicillin thrice daily in a 50lbs of child. Moreover the medicine is not much of a cocktail. there should be an antipyretic for fever.
