Is Taking Folwise Medicine Without Being Prescribed Advisable?

Hi, I am 28 years old, height 5'4" and weight is 50kg. From past 4-5 months, I was on medication for e-coli and that's why postponed my pregnancy plans. Now I'm fit for pregnancy. My doctor has given me folwise for one month which ended this weekend. I jst wanted to know, can I take folwise for one more month without prescription. Is is safe or shud I visit to my doctor?

Hi dear and thanks for your query.

Folic acid is used three months prior to any pregnancy.
It's effect is very good because is seen that women who take it regularly have decrease risk that can have spina bifida.
Hence take folic acid 400 micro gram per day if you have no history of spina bifida.
