Is Tattooing Safe While Breastfeeding?

Hello, after doing research regarding this I got a tattoo while breastfeeding (le leche website said there was minimal risk providing the are kept clean etc) and during the tattoo the wound was repeatedly washed over using dettol. I have been nursing and now really worried about the detail passing through my breast milk, is this possible? I am really concerned as have been nursing for the past 12 hours since getting the tattoo

Hi,

Because the chemicals mostly the the toxic metals are the contents of dye used in tattooing. The chemicals are absorbed slowly and are also filtered till it reaches to the milk glands. There is not any serious complications associated but you need to avoid further breastfeed for 2-3 days.
