Is Taxim-O Effective For Fever In Children?

Hello, My 10 month old son had developed fever 102 F on Wednesday. We gave ibugesic and crocin drops and the he is not having fever since Friday night. There is no urinary infection or ear infection. Since saturday he is having cough. Cough seems to have phlegm but it is not coming out. He has a slight running nose as well. He is also not eating any solids. Milk intake is lesser than usual. Is it ok to give Taxim-O to him and how much shall I give him in case its needed? Note: The measles vaccination was delayed due to some other medication that was going on.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Taxim-O is cifixime and this is good medicine for upper respiratory infection . The normal dose is 8 mg / kg body weight in two divided dosage / day for 5-7 days .
As now fever is not present so no need of crocin & ibugesic .
But your son is still having cough , running nose and not eating well ( anorexia ) .
In my opinion he is also having some sort of allergy . When such patient visit in my clinic I also advise them to take cyproheptadine syrup ( as an appetite stimulant) and syrup ( salbutamol+ ambroxole) , so that mucus resolves.
Hope this information helps.
Good luck.
