Is The .08 TSH A Dangerous Level?

My message left before I was finished. Is a TSH reading of .08 dangerously low? I ve been hypothyroid since 1996 and know my body well. I was doing very well on 112cmg Synthroid, was on this dose for a year and TSH dropped to .02, then came up to .08. My doctor thought my TSH reading was too low and put me on 100cmg Synthroid. After two months my hair was falling out very substantially, I am seriously fatigued, depressive feeling and want to know if my .08 TSH reading was too dangerous?? I am 66 years old and otherwise in excellent health. I had been doing yoga twice a week for a year until this drop of energy, I haven t been able to do it since then. Is the .08 TSH a dangerous level?

Hi ,
TSH value of 0.08 is low. That level is not good and indicate that you are over replaced. That can cause problems like osteoporosis, palpitations etc. That is the reason why your doctor has cut down the dose. It may be worthwhile to wait for 6 weeks and recheck your TSH again.

Unfortuntly, some patients continue to have symptoms of hypothyroidism while taking tablet, despite their blood levels of Free T4 and TSH being normal. This is called tissue level hypothyroidism. Some people benefit with combined T3/T4 treatment. But that is a controversial area.
