Is The ELISA Test After 3 Months Recommended Here?
Hello Doctor Prasad, I need your expert opinion on my case. I am 39 years old male and with lovely wife and 2 kids. I am 10 years into my marriage and never ever had any relationship before/after marriage ever. However, I got myself into a situation first time ever in my life, when I was in Bahrain recently and met a turkish prostitute in the Bar and we end up being in my room. Although I used condom for the intercourse, it got broken and I found it only after the intercourse. I got terribly scared post that incident and had enquired with the her on her status. She maintained she is HIV negative (though cant rely on her statement). I started reading on the net post the incident to explore the testing option. Though I understand it is said that ELISA test post 3 months is the conclusive one, I still went ahead and did a 28 days P24 antigen + HIV antibody test using ECLIA method at religare lab in Mumbai. The result was NEGATIVE. On day 30th I am experience Diarrhea and started worrying again. I need you sincere opinion on my situation and your view on 28 days Early screening test and . Many Thx and Kind Regards D
Hi....I m Dr. Kumarbhargav pathologist, I really want to answer to your query...
I understood your situation...Regarding HIV i tell you briefly
Duration between primary infection to clinical disease (latency) may be upto 10 years... Antibody against HIV can be detected by ELISA which may take 3-6 months in few people due to variable seroconversion Antigen detection by p24 antigen assay is new method that reduces this period to 1-3 weeks molecular methods like NAT (nucleic acid amplification) PCR (polymerase chain reaction based method may reduce this period further to 1-3 weeks...from infection to detection of HIV genetic material
so i would recommend new advanced method either p24 antigent assay or NAT bit costly but...guide you well from your stress....
Thank you....further contact ART centres if any doubt...or contact here...
Thanks for using health care magic..
