Hello..If you have any of the other risk factors for coronary artery disease like smoking,hypertension,diabetes,family history of heart disease,obesity you should consider statins along with diet and lifestyle modifications.Otherwise the total and LDL cholesterol are of bit concern only and you need not be necessarily put on statins right away..Take care.
