Is The Lump On Neck And Numbness On Fingers Related?
my dad had a lump on his neck that he had checked out last week, they had him do x-rays, blood work, and a MRI. This week they told him it was a dissolved disk in his neck. He said it is starting to feel better the lump has gone down, but, he still has two fingers still numb. My question is, will it be ok if he doesn t do anything , as he wants, or does he need to go to the neurologist as his doctor advised?
1.The history and imaging findings and symptoms suggest the lump at the neck is the reason for the numbness on the fingers. 2.As there is a disc bulge / herniation / protrusion - which is seen as a lump as mentioned. 3.As the disc bulges or comes out from the intervertebral space - that will cause a pressure effect on the nerves which exit at that point. 4.When the disc causes pressure effect the above mentioned symptoms are seen. 5.Yes he needs to to see the neurologist for further management, initially x-ray, if required operative procedure / intervention is required.
Good luck. Hope i have answered your query, any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-ganesh/62888
