Hallow Dear,
Considering your age of 43 years and the bulky uterus as evident in
Ultrasonography, you should not take the situation casually and try to control the bleeding only with
Meprate.
Meprate is
Medroxyprogesterone Acetate which is a Progestational preparation. It will arrest the bleeding only if it is due to
hormonal imbalance. Also, the bleeding arrested after these medicines starts again few days after discontinuing the medicines; though in lesser degree and for shorter period.
I am advising you subject yourself for the study of the lining of your uterus(endometrium). At this age, particularly if the bleeding is uncontrollable, you have to consider the possibility cancer of the endometrium.
Please find out the thickness of the endometrium by ultrasonography. If it is more than 4 mm, it should be subjected for further evaluation.
Hysteroscopy or Hysteromicroscopy will assess the endometrium primarily. Then, hysterocopically directed biopsy of the endometrium may be taken for microscopic study.
Depending upon the results of these investigations, further management may be planned.
So please do not rely only on Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone Acetate); report to your Gynaecologist for appropriate evaluation and management.
I hope this will guide your management.
