Is The Medication Of Valparin 200 Syrup Safe For My 17-month-old Son?

Hi, My son is 17 months old and has been recently diagnosed with seizure disorder(through EEG). He stiffs his hand muscles for 3-4 seconds and the problem occurs 1-2 times a day(sometimes once in 2-3 days also). He is normal on every activity. He has been prescribed with valparin 200 syrup 4ml/day(2ml after breakfast and 2ml after dinner) for next three years. Will this affect his normal future life?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

Whenever a doctor prescribes - he or she would seen the risk-benefit ratio. So it is better and safe to use Valparin when there is a seizure disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
