Is The Tear On My Tonsils Classified As Tonsillectomy?

Having recently consulted an ENT and was told that there is a tear on my tonsils causing intermittent pain. He said that it was not necessary to remove the tonsil bot to do a Laser on the tonsil. I like to know if this is still classified as tonsillectomy as far as health insurance claim goes?
