Is The Thick Brown Discharge Related To Bladder Infection?
Hi I have been on the Iplanon for 3 years and am coming towards the renewal requirement. I have noticed over the last few months a period or thick plasma in a brown colour that lasts a few days. Is this normal? Can this be brought on by a bladder infection as I had one recently and it was treated?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
You have mentioned that the brown discharge is only for few days in last few months. This is a normal color change of your regular period. It happens when the blood is older and not being expelled from the body quickly. It is not related to your bladder infection. In turn bladder infection usually cause changes in urine and pain or burning on urination with or without any abdominal pain and fever.
If the brown discharge is heavier and lasts for many days, then you should check with your treating doctor to rule out any anemia due to blood loss. Thus nothing to be concerned about this. As the life of your contraceptive implant is about to end, please remove and have new contraceptive implant or else use other contraceptive methods like oral contraceptive pills.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
