Is There A Possibility Of Having Another Hernia As I Am Experiencing Pressure On The Area Where Surgery Was Performed?
I had surgery for an inguinal hernia about five years ago, I have been feeling pressure or what feels like a bulge in the area of the surgery sight and it seems to be more and more bothersome as time goes on is it possible that I have another hernia in the same spot?
** 1. Family history, male gender and age are significant risk factors for recurrent inguinal hernia disease, and except gender [inguinal in males] other particulars are missing, so although recurrent hernia has to be regarded as a disease caused by multiple factors like [unrecognized hernia, incomplete dissection or improper ligation of the sac, failure to narrow the cord, or inadequate reconstruction of the internal ring] a family history may be considered as a criterion to identify the risk for recurrence. 2. conditions like chronic bronchitis, chronic cough, enlarged prostate, stricture urethra, chronic constipation: all induce chronic strain as to cause hernia to develop again [check with suitable investigations and general examination from a General surgeon regarding the same for differential diagnosis and management.
