Is There A Risk In Taking High Dosage Of Metoprolol For Fast Hear Beat?

Hi Doctor! I m Leandro and I m 55 y/o asthmatic patient. I ve been taking my Albutrol for 3 weeks and I suddenly felt like I m almost falling and my heartbeat seems to be very fast like a saw. So my doctor gave me Metropolol and he said that it will help me to counter that. He gave me the high dose of metropolol. will there be a risk for me while im taking metropolol or something? thank you doctor and Have a nice day! -leandro

Hi Leonardo.
Actually there is a risk that metoprolol can worsen your asthma.
Usually I prescribe my asthmatic patients Verapamil or Dilthiazem unless there are contraindications. It also depends for what your doctor have prescribe you metoprolol, whether you have some specific arrhythmias.
You can discuss with your doctor and ask if he/she can change your medication.
