Is There An Underlying Cause For The Sudden Appearance Of Bruises?

I keep getting huge terrible looking bruises on my arms. I have one that keeps coming back and it will have a round white dot in the middle with a knot every time. Everytime I get one of these big bruises I never notice hitting it or anything like that. I have had insulin problems in the past and I heard that can cause them but they are terrible and recently at work someone asked if I was being abused and I just laughed and said I don t know how I got all these bruises on my arms. I just want to know if there may be an underlining cause

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history, you are having insect bite dermatitis. My treatment advice is:

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-B cream.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like levocetrizine. Consult your physician for prescription.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone to be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
