Is There Any Doctor Available To Analyse This Report?

My Father has sugar but well controlled (both fasting and PP) by taking medicine Amaryl in the morning. He is doing regular check up for last 8 years (His age is around 70). Every time during check up he is doing the test of Sugar (Fasting & PP), Urea and Creatinine. The Urea Creatinine level during last visit was within tolerable limit i.e. Urea was 35 and Creatinine 1.1. However, during recent visit while doing the test it was noted that the Urea-70 and Creatinine -1.68 jumps up. Doctor as a precautionary measure suggested Sehlcal 500 twice. My point is this is calcium supplement and does it help to kidney problem. Pl. confirm.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hi,
No it is not going to help. Calcium is given as a supplement for bone nutrition.
Renal damage is known to occur in diabetes mellitus and it is progressive in nature during episodes of uncontrolled sugar rise.
Try to get an HbA1C tested and look at the values. It should be done annually thrice to look at the control of sugar.
Renal damage has started and renal protective agents like ACE inhibitors or ADB agents needs to be started. Discuss with a nephrologist and take the prescription.
Hope this helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
