Hi doc,

My mother is a diabetic as well as a cardiac patient. Recently her PPS shot up to more than 600 mg. Presently she is on insulin. Her recent blood report indicate a urea of 98 (previously it was 129) and creatinine of 1.6(previously it was 3.9). How critical is her condition. Pl. advise

Hi,
Uncontrolled Diabetes often leads to critical renal damage. As she is on insulin now, her sugar level must be under near control.
The blood of urea and creatinine are improving and it signifies a better prognosis. She needs to watch her diet.
Regarding her condition, it is not critical as before. However, if she is on dialysis, then she might need it often as her kidney has sustained much damage during the early years of uncontrolled sugar.
If you give me more details, I can help you better.
Hope it Helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
