Is There Any Doctor Available To Analyse This Report?
Hello, my 18 yo son is on coumadine 6mg after hospitalization due to picc line. He had forgotten to take his medication at night and his INR was at 1.2 the nurse stated he could throw a clot. What does this mean? He already has two from previous home health care and picc line association.

Hi, looking at your history and present medical issues, i think coumadine is not a drug to be misses. It is given to reduce the incidence of clot formation within blood vessels. INR in previously clot affected individuals is usually maintained at a level of 1.6-2.5. If it comes below the level, the clot incidence could increase. If it is taken excessively, risk of bleeding would be present.
Discuss with you doctor at earliest and if required intravenous therapy can be given for the time being. Any further queries, happy to help again. Dr. Jyothi BL
