Hello doctor my RPR shows false positive and tpha negative on frequent examination with a titre of1:4.what could be the reason and please guide me how to proceed.I had an affair 11 years before but past 9 years my husband is my only partner Will I b infected n any other test to be repeated and what treatment needed

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The RPR and TPHA are tests for Syphilis.
TPHA is the gold standard investigation for Syphilis.
RPR is a preliminary test for syphilis.
If it comes out to be positive, TPHA test is done.
TPHA is a diagnostic test and if positive, the disease is present.
However, if TPHA is negative, the disease is ruled out.
Thus, in your case TPHA is negative thus syphilis is absent.
The symptoms of syphilis are- painless ulcers on external genitalia, muco-cutaneous lesions.
In case these lesions are present, syphilis is suggestive.
