Is There Any Doctor Available To Interpret This Report?

My uncle is in ICU in a semi conscious state since 3 days . His MRI says poor blood circulation to his lower brain n he has suffered a stroke. When I went to see him , he opened his eyes n I spoke to him . He just gurgled some sounds, but couldnt speak. Can he recognise us ? Can he listen n understand what we speak ? How long will it take to come back to a conscious mind? I cant see him like this. He is above 70years.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

I suppose your uncle has had an ischemic stroke in the cerebellum or mid brain area. He must remain in the ICU for a while and his vitals need to be monitored. He can recognize and listen to what you speak if he is attempting to make gargling sounds but his is unable to express himself. He may need a few weeks of regular physiotherapy for him to recover and his speech to become fluent.
