Is There Any Doctor Available To Interpret This Report?

sir i am a sonologist , just saw a 60 yrs old lady , with C/O pain in epigastrium & RHC. liver is mild fatty , shows a hypoechoic lesion with internal calcific foci in right lobe . i susupected liver abscess . but blood counts are normal . what could be other possibility.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

A hydatid cyst in liver shows internal calcification in most patients. You may have to rule out any other benign cystic lesion in the liver. You may also mention Doppler flow around the lesion and if it has a thin wall. If in doubt over an abscess, please call the patient for review ultrasound and tell her to inform you if she develops increase in pain and fever. Other causes that may show similar finding are lesion involving head of pancreas (if next to duodenum).
