Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Frankly speaking there is nothing that you can do to prevent an STD is you acquired one.
The only thing you can do now is to screen for possible STD's and get treated for in case you test positive.
Treatment of STD's is not presumptive unless one of the sexual partners is a confirmed case of an STD. e.g
vaginal discharge in a sexual partner warrants treatment of all sexual contacts within the past month for
gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Similarly if one of the sexual partner has
syphilis it is appropriate to treat all sexual contacts within the preceding 3 months.
I suggest screening for HIV and syphilis (VDRL/RPR) at 1 month irrespective of symptoms or signs. It should be repeated at 3 months for a conclusive result.
Herpes can be tested for by an ELISA test as early as 2-4 weeks after possible infection to look for circulating
antibodies against Hsv.
Moreover, if you notice any urethral discharge, burning sensation, erosions or ulcers, or warts/ growths in the genital region you most get yourself checked with a venereologist.
