Is There Any Permanent Cure For Foot Calluses Apart From Temporary Removal?

Thank you, I have been to a Podiatric Dr. Foot Specialist here in Laguna Wods Dr. George Maraczi D.P.M. several times for an ingrown Callus on the bottom of my food behind the left toe. It has been removed several times. I m finding this Dr. not helping me as i have no relief and the bottom of my food hurts even when I put it up. I m a hicker walker and this wories me. I m aware an would like this corrected. I had a complete knee replacement 25 years ago due to Helicopter skiing accident on the same foot. Im sure my walking probably changed over the years. What would yu recommend. Im in a lot of pain and should I go to an orthopedic surgen?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Calluses are hardly painful but when painful, treatment will be needed.Calluses generally result form pressure and friction from repetitive actions caused by wearing ill-fitting shoes, wearing shoes without socks.
The initial management of this problem is to avoid repetitive actions that cause them to develop. You may help resolve them by wearing proper fitting shoes and using protective pads.If they persist and become painful despite your efforts, medical treatment will be needed: trimming away excess skin, callus removing medications like 40% salicylic acid or surgery in rare cases.
I will advise you see the Orthopedic surgeon.Depending on the size and pain intensity, he may use drugs or remove it surgically. After the intervetion, the following may help you not to have it again:
-Wear comfortable shoes and socks or pads
-Moisturize you feet always
-During bathing, always rub any thickened skin off
Hope my answer will help you
