Is There Any Permanent Cure To Acidity?

I am a 55 years old man, weigh 97 kg and am 173 cm tall. For the last one month, I have severe acidity problem due to which I am unable to sleep at night. I experience chest pain and irritation in the food pipe. I used to go for night walk daily for an hour or so but due to uneasiness and tiredness after work, I have left it. I have consulted a doctor who has prescribed these medicines - Parit, Rantac, Beplex forte and Unienzyme. Am I on the right medication? Is there any permanent cure to acidity?

I had severe acid reflux up until 2 years ago - I had it for 30 years. I lost 20 kilos, and changed diet to alkaline food. Forget the pharma - concentrate on diet. The best cure in my experience for acid reflux is cabbage beetroot soup plus a few apples a day. Anything relating to wheat is a killer - bread, pastries all out. No butter. Yeast is a problem. Re Alcohol, low acid / low alcohol wines are fine - eg Bordeaux St Emilion 12.5% alcohol. Lager is not too bad. I love draught Guinness - but alas the barley and yeast is a killer for me.

For acidity & constipation, if any one is suffering for a long period, its better to consult a doctor for permanent cure, it could be due to not having food on time or starvation or the kind of food U eat - oily, fatty food. Ayurveda has remedy as well, for constipation one should drink at least 6 glasses of water daily, eat plenty of green / fibrous vegetables. A well balanced & nutritious meal with roti, sabzi, dal chavel or meat / poultry is key to good health. Banana or a table spoon of roasted ground nut after meals would help, avoid any food made of maida like bread, pasta or noodles or any bakery stuff.yes you are taking right allopathic medication for gastritis.

take care

It sounds like you have a condition called GERD (gastro-oesophageal reflux disease), which means that acid from your stomach is backing up into your food pipe (oesophagus). Please take the following steps: 1. Take Omeprazole 20 mg in morning before breakfast on an empty stomach. 2. Lose weight as you are overweight 3. Avoid heavy meals 4. Avoid going to bed for at least 2 hours after a meal. 5. You can stop all the other medications.

Note: For further follow-up it is advisable to consult an emergency medicine specialist. Click here.
