Is There Any Procedure Available To Create Sternum For Floating Ribs?

Hi, I m sorry I started this before but closed out by accident. Is there any medical procedure available to create a sternum to attach the floating ribs. My son had his sternum removed and his ribs, collarbone feel like they are moving and clicking. His doctor told him it would be about 5 years before one of the ribs punctured his lung, heart or another organ and he would bleed to death. I can t believe with all of the medical break throughs discovered everyday that there isn t some kind of fake sternum developed. Please help or guide us where we should go? Thank you very much for your time.

Hi,

Yes, you are right. Artificial sternum of metal is implanted to support the ribs and assist in respiration.

You need to contact Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA.

There is a separate Transplant Department which is doing all these transplants.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
