Is There Any Relation Between Internal Ulcer And Meth Usage?

My friend was had recently been admitted to hospital for internal bleeding. What was found was described as an abnormally large ulcer. My friend is unfortunately a meth user. This was not disclosed to his doctor. I found very little information online about any relation between ulcers and meth use. Is this linked? and is there a way to test for it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
As per the history of your friend, he has a large ulcer that caused an internal bleeding.
Meth users get it as it affects the healing by virtue of reduced blood supply to the area and thus causing ulcer or not allowing it to heal.
Your friend should stop using meth otherwise the ulcer will never heal.
Stress and anxiety are two biggest enemies as a causative factor and
He needs to take a long course of PPI, Antacid, have altered soft and bland diet, small frequent feeds and so on.
Have a review Endoscopy after a week to see the progress.

I hope this answers your query for your friend.
