Is There Chances Of Pregnancy Even After Tubal Ligation?
I had a tubal ligation perfomed with my c-section child deliver on May 17th, 2011, it has been 2 months and 2 weeks since and I have not had a period. I am concerned that I may be pregnant again. I also have a lump in both of my arm pits. they went away after about 2 weeks but it is very painful. Please Help
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Not getting periods within 6 months of childbirth is common if you are exclusively breastfeeding the baby, and is due to suspended ovulation under the hormonal changes and is known as lactational amenorrhea. Hence chances of getting pregnant is very unlikely in this period. Moreover, since you have got your tubes ligated, chances of pregnancy are almost nil unless there is a rare incidence of recanalisation of tube. I would suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done, and be doubly sure. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
