Is There Interaction Between Norvasc, Cozaar And Flomax?

My 92 year-old dad takes Norvasc 5 mg, Cozaar 50 mg in the morning and Flomax 0.4 mg at night. I was wondering if he could take the Flomax in the morning to see if that would help him not need to get up to urinate every 45 minutes all night. I see that all three meds affect BP so can they be taken together? Thanks

Hello,

Norvasc & Cozaar are medications to treat hypertension. You have not mentioned if your dad has Prostrate issue or not.

However, Flomax is Tamsulosin HCL & is used to treat Prostrate problems, it relaxes the muscles in the prostate & bladder neck causing it easier to urinate.

All the medications should not be taken at the same time. It should be taken as prescribed by your treating doctor.

You can give Flomax in the morning to avoid urination at night but keep your treating doctor informed.

Patients with enlarged prostrate have frequent urges to urinate at night. Get the prostrate treated properly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
