Is There Permanent Damage If Experiencing Neckpain, Headache, Dizziness In That Side Of Head After Being Hit?

Hi
I was in the head last week by a hard plastic object on the side of my face (right temple and top of my jaw) and was left with some mild swelling, redness, sinus pain, back of the neck pain (near the base of my head on the side I was hit), a runny nose, a headache and a stomachache- it was a pretty hard hit. I went to the er and they did a neuro test and said I was fine. The face pain and headache lasted a couple of days. I still have the neck pain and have woken up in the night twice now with a headache on the side I was hit and a little dizziness. I do get migraines that predominantly occur on the side I was hit. I am wondering if I did some sort of damage that went undetected. Thanks!

Am sorry to hear about your injury. I'm glad you got to the ER and were checked out by a physician. The neck pain and dizziness that you are suffering from can be due to swelling that has affected the tendons and muscles in the neck. The swelling can translate to Headaches and Neck pain.

Also your injury could have made your migraines temporarily worse.
Let me ask you something? When you take Over The Counter meds like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, do they help with the pain or does the pain persist?

If the pain persists in spite of the medications, or if it's still giving you trouble 10-14 days after the injury then it's probably a good idea to get to the doctor.

If the pain is going down over time or if it is well controlled by meds. Then I would wait until your next checkup with your family doctor.
